• Perform daily, mandatory pre-trip and post-trip inspections of tires, lights, brakes, and fluid levels to ensure compliance with OSHA and DOT standards.
• Operate tractor-trailers, long-haul, or regional, navigating routes using GPS, planning for traffic/weather, and meeting strict delivery schedules.
• Load, unload, or supervise the loading of cargo to ensure proper weight distribution and securement to prevent damage.
• Maintain accurate records, including Electronic Logging Devices (ELD) for hours of service, fuel consumption, and cargo documentation.
• Coordinate with dispatchers regarding pickup/delivery times, traffic delays, and maintenance issues.
• Perform minor maintenance, such as refueling, cleaning, and reporting major mechanical defects to maintenance personnel.
